Our camping season runs from May 1 through Columbus Day weekend. Office and camp store hours vary throughout the season, so please contact us for current hours.

GETTING HERE
Conveniently located midway between Syracuse and Albany and less than 20 minutes from beautiful Utica, New York. Situated on the gorgeous West Canada Creek at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.

From the North
Take Route 12/28 South into Barneveld. At the traffic light, turn left and follow Route 28 toward Poland. At the intersection with Route 8, turn left and continue for about half a mile. The campground will be on your left, just before the bridge over the West Canada Creek.
From the South
Take Route 12/8 North through Utica. About 4 miles north of Utica, take the exit for Route 8 North toward Poland. Drive approximately 8 miles. The campground is on your left, just before the bridge over the West Canada Creek.
From the East
For Smaller Campers & Cars (Quickest Route)
Take the NYS Thruway (I-90) to the Herkimer Exit (Exit 30).
Turn right at the exit and follow signs for Route 28 North.
After approximately 16 miles, you’ll pass through the Village of Poland.
Once you exit the village, cross the bridge over the West Canada Creek — you’ll find West Canada Creek Campground on the right, about 75 yards past the bridge.
For Large Campers, Rigs & Motorhomes
(Slightly longer by about 10–15 minutes, but highway all the way)
Take the NYS Thruway (I-90) to Exit 31 (Utica).
From the exit, take the ramp to I-790 / US-8 N / US-12 N toward Utica.
Follow the signs for Routes 8 & 12 North toward Poland and Watertown.
Merge right onto Routes 8 & 12 North, then take the first right onto the road that continues along Route 8 & 12 North after the overpass.
This route will take you directly into Poland, NY, and to our campground entrance.
From the West
Take the NYS Thruway (Interstate 90) to Exit 31 (Utica). Follow signs for Route 12 North. After approximately 10 miles, take the exit for Route 8 North toward Poland. Continue on Route 8 for about 8 miles. Turn left onto Route 28 in Poland and drive for half a mile. The campground will be on your left just before the bridge over the West Canada Creek

What's included in my site?
Your campsite includes parking for 2 vehicles, a fire ring, and a picnic table. RV and tent site rates include 2 adults and up to 4 children (under 18). Cabin rates include 2 guests, with additional charges for extra occupants. Additional overnight campers are $15 per person, per night ($20 on holidays). A one-time $6.50 booking fee applies to all reservations.
Can I have visitors during my stay?
Absolutely! Family and friends are always welcome. All visitors must register at the Camp Office upon arrival and pay the applicable visitor fee.
Day visitors are $7 per person (ages 5 and older), or $10 during holiday periods. Overnight visitors are $15 per person, or $20 during holiday periods. Children under 5 visit free.
Day visitors must leave by 9 PM. A maximum of 4 visitors per campsite per day is permitted, and total campsite occupancy cannot exceed 10 people, including registered campers and visitors. Visitors may not bring pets, except as required by applicable law.
Can I have a campfire, and what about firewood?
Campfires are welcome at your site's designated fire ring. To protect our local forests from invasive pests and diseases, outside firewood is not permitted. Quality firewood is available for purchase at our camp store and we'll deliver it right to your site!
Are pets allowed at your campground?
Yes! Dogs and cats are welcome, with a maximum of 2 pets per campsite. A $5 fee per pet, per stay applies, with 100% of proceeds supporting a local no-kill animal shelter through our Paws for a Cause initiative.
Pets must be leashed (6-foot maximum, no retractable leashes), supervised and current on vaccinations. Please clean up after your pets immediately. Pets are not permitted in cabins or designated pet-restricted areas, except as required by applicable law.
When can I arrive, depart and what are the quiet hours?
Check-in begins at 2 PM, and check-out is at 12 PM. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for $25, subject to availability and prior approval. Arrivals after 9 PM require advance authorization.
Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM. We ask all guests to be considerate of their neighbors throughout their stay.
How many people can stay on a campsite?
RV Campsites: Our campsite rates include 2 adults and up to 4 children (ages 17 and under), making it easy to bring the whole family! Additional guests are welcome at $15 per person, per night ($20 during holiday periods). Maximum occupancy is 10 people per campsite, including registered campers and visitors.
Cabins: Cabin rates include 2 guests, with additional guests welcome at $20 per person, per night, including holidays. Maximum occupancy is 4 or 6 guests, depending on the cabin.
Tent Camping: Tent sites follow the same occupancy and additional-guest pricing as RV sites. Rates include 2 adults and up to 4 children (ages 17 and under), with a maximum of 2 tents per site. Additional guests are charged $15 per person, per night ($20 during holiday periods), up to a maximum of 10 people per campsite, including registered campers and visitors.
Can I camp in a tent at West Canada Creek Campground?
Absolutely! We offer dedicated riverfront tent sites (79–81), as well as oversized Site 78, which accommodates tents or small campers. Tent campers are also welcome to reserve any available RV campsite at that site's regular rate. A maximum of two tents is permitted per site, and tents may not be added to a site occupied by an RV.
Do you offer early check-in or late check-out options?
Yes! Based on availability, we offer early check-in (noon instead of 2 PM) or late check-out (2 PM instead of noon) for $25 per option. Contact our front desk in advance to arrange this service.
What is your cancellation Policy?
All cancellations must be submitted in writing. Cancellations received 11 or more days before arrival are eligible for a refund, less a one-night fee for stays shorter than one week or a two-night fee for stays of one week or longer.
Cancellations made 10 days or fewer before arrival are non-refundable. Reservations during designated holiday periods are non-refundable regardless of cancellation date.
Requests to shorten a reservation are subject to our reservation change and shortened-stay policy, including applicable adjustment fees and cancellation deadlines. We recommend purchasing travel insurance.
